The JM Cambridge Fundraising team undertook a week of activities from 22nd-26th June with games and raffles to encourage donations. Their team challenge throughout the month of June was to “Race Around the Johnson Matthey (JM) sites” by either walking, cycling, or running the equivalent distance between each JM site in the UK & Ireland starting from JM in Cambridge. They exercised an incredible 1,308 miles!
Johnson Matthey has been undertaking charity fundraising as part of their community COVID-19 response and all employee donations have been matched by JM. As well as the sporting event, JM Cambridge undertook a week of fundraising activities including a silent auction and a virtual games competition which were very well attended. The events were arranged for two main reasons. They explained, “We selected CPSL Mind as one of the charities as we had an excellent resilience training course delivered by Ruth Brown last year and appreciate the good work you do”.
Catherine Keating, Community Fundraiser for CPSL Mind said, “The Covid-19 pandemic is affecting people’s mental wellbeing in many different ways and, in response to increased levels of anxiety, isolation and loneliness, we have adapted our existing services – and developed new ones. With demand for our services remaining high we are extremely grateful to JM Cambridge for highlighting the importance of exercise and mental health. The runners helped to raise awareness and funding for our services – a huge thank to everyone involved.”
