What is World Mental Health Day?

World Mental Health Day is on the 10th October every year. The day highlights the importance of mental health, focuses on raising awareness and reducing stigma around mental health.

Every year, various organisations host events promoting the significance of mental health and how it impacts lives daily.

Here at STOP Suicide, we have gathered a few tips that might help you to improve your mental health and wellbeing.

  • Eat well

Food has a huge impact on our mood and energy levels. Having a healthy diet not only helps with physical fitness but also enhances positive mental health.

  • Rest properly

Allowing your body to get enough rest ensures that it recover well. Therefore, a good night’s sleep rejuvenates and alleviates our mood.

  • Connect with others

Talking and socialising with your loved ones or new people enables you to share your thoughts and your feelings. It also has a positive impact on your self-esteem.

  • Take time for yourself

You can learn something new, pick up a hobby, or practice self-care. Spending time with yourself gives you an opportunity to get to know yourself and the things you enjoy doing.

  • Get active

Including some form of physical activity in your daily life enhances your overall health. You can exercise, meditate, play a sport, go for a walk, or ride a bicycle.
