A team of nearly 70 runners ran the TTP Cambridge Half Marathon on Sunday 17th October, raising over £20,000 to support our services. They joined thousands tackling the stunning 13.1 route through the city centre and beautiful surrounding countryside, in the 10th running of the event.
Wayne Bradley, one of those running for us said the weather conditions were perfect for the race and how much he enjoyed the event:
“Heading back into the city, the crowd noise was amazing with everyone shouting your name. About one mile to go and you can just hear the finish line announcer and you know it is nearly done. I loved the finish straight with so much noise and I was feeling great. To top it all off, I was met by staff from CPSL Mind who seemed more excited than me.”
Catherine Keating, our Community Fundraiser, said, “It was an emotional and cathartic day for many of our runners who came to see us all at the race village. And so far, our fabulous fundraisers have raised over £21,000, with the total continuing to climb, which is just amazing, thank you.
“Running also ties in with one of the 5 ways to wellbeing to Be Active and as we recover from the Covid-19 pandemic, people are still struggling with their mental wellbeing in many different ways. In response to increased levels of anxiety, isolation and loneliness, we have adapted our existing services and are now able to spend more time out in the community with those that need it and events, and fundraising like this, really helps us make a difference”
