Use your experiences to improve discharge from Inpatient Mental Health Settings

Have you been discharged from a mental health hospital within the last five years? If so, you may be able to help us with a survey which aims to help people transition more easily from inpatient mental health settings to the community.

Have you been discharged from a mental health hospital within the last five years?

If so, you may be able to help us with a survey which aims to help people transition more easily from inpatient mental health settings to the community.

Sarah Rae, a Service User Researcher, is collaborating with academic researchers, a frontline staff nurse, a research clinical psychologist, a consultant psychiatrist and individuals with lived experience on the project.

Sarah has lived experience of being discharged from a psychiatric ward and this is one of the main factors which has motivated this research project.

Sarah says, “Some years ago, I was discharged from a psychiatric ward which was a difficult process. Readjusting to living in the community was also very challenging. Research suggests that many other service users struggle with being discharged and do not feel adequately supported. The aim of the project is to improve the discharge experience for everyone.”

If you have been discharged from a mental health hospital in the last five years, please support this research by completing this short anonymous survey: https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/VQ30F/

Your unique insights will help researchers to understand the key issues and shape the research from a lived experience perspective.
